Statement from John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on U.S. Senate confirming Dilawar Syed as the next SBA Deputy Administrator

"After more than two years of needless obstruction, we are pleased that the U.S. Senate has confirmed Dilawar Syed as the Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Mr. Syed has led a distinguished business-oriented career from being the President and CEO at Lumiata, serving as chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans Pacific Islander’s Economic Growth Committee under President Obama, and as the Special Representative for commercial and business affairs at the bureau of economic and business affairs at the U.S Department of State. In these roles, Mr. Syed has proven himself to be a champion of small businesses and a voice for underserved communities.

During his nomination hearing, Mr. Syed stressed the integral role that small businesses play in our economy and the value of his experience as an entrepreneur and a public servant. This hearing further reiterated his ability to successfully advocate for the nation's small business owners.

We are glad that this proven, innovative, solution-oriented leader has now been confirmed to be part of the SBA's helm and help advance the Agency's programs, build its policies, and tactfully and eloquently support small businesses. We look forward to working with Deputy Administrator Syed in supporting small business growth and success."
